The nasal septum separates the left and right nostrils from each other. It is made of both cartilage and bone. The more anterior part is made of hyaline cartilage. The more posterior portion, which is made of bone, is created by the fusing of the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid with the plate of the vomer.
