Description
The right lung is divided into three lobes. On the right side the upper lobe is divided by a second nearly horizontal fissure which is directed forward from the middle of the preceding one to the anterior border. The right lung is larger and heavier than the left. Its transverse diameter is greater owing to the inclination of the heart to the left side. Its vertical diameter is shorter owing to the diaphragm lying higher on the right side, being carried up by the liver.
