Infraglenoid tubercle

Description

This is a rough, triangular region just inferior to the glenoid cavity on the lateral margin of the scapula. It provides attachment for the long head of the triceps brachii muscle.

Etymology

The term infraglenoid is from the Latin infra meaning below and glenoid meaning socket or cavity. Tubercle comes from the Latin word tuber for a lump, combined with the diminutive ending denoting a small lump.
