Description

The neck is just medial to the thick rim of bone around the glenoid cavity. It is a narrow constriction of the lateral angle that extends toward the base of the coracoid process and the spine.

Etymology

The term neck refers to a narrow region of bone that supports a larger boney projection. The Latin term for neck is collum.
