Medial condyle of the tibia
Other Terms: Condylus medialis (tibia), Condylus medialis tibiae
This is the large knob-like projection at the proximal end of the tibia. The projection serves as a site of articulation for the medial femoral condyle, this site being larger than that of the lateral side. It is an attachment site for the semimembranosus muscle, capsular ligament, and tibial collateral ligament.
Condyle comes from the Greek word kondulos meaning knuckle or knob.
