Lateral condyle of the tibia
Other Terms: Condylus lateralis (tibia), Condylus lateralis tibiae
Large knob-like projection at the proximal end of the tibia. This projection serves as a site of articulation for the head of the fibula and the lateral femoral condyle, this site forming a smaller superior facet than that of the medial condyle. It is an attachment site for the capsular ligament and iliotibial tract.
Condyle comes from the Greek word kondulos meaning knuckle or knob.
