Interosseous margin of the tibia


Description

A sharp lateral margin of bone running down the tibial shaft for attachment of the interosseous membrane, a fibrous membrane adjoining the tibia and fibula, separating the anterior compartment muscles from the posterior compartment muscles.

Etymology

This term arises from the Latin words inter meaning between and osseous referring to bone. The term margin designates an edge or border.
