Description

Because of its lip-like appearance, this term describes the external edge of the iliac crest. It provides attachment for, from anterior to posterior, the tensor fasciae latae, external oblique, latissimus dorsi, and gluteus maximus muscles.

Etymology

Labium is Latin for lip.
