Thoracic ligaments

Description

Within the thoracic region of the trunk there are numerous joints and ligaments formed between the ribs, sternum, and thoracic vertebrae. These are strong joints with small ranges of motion that contribute both to the stability of the thoracic cage and the movements of the ribs, movements that are important in respiration.
