Lower limb joints and ligaments
Other Terms:
Inferior limb,
Lower limb,
Lower limb ligaments
Description
The lower limb has a wide variety of joints and ligaments. The joints range from the highly mobile hip and knee joints to joints in the foot and between the tibia and fibula with very minor ranges of motion. The ligaments associated with the various joints are important in both stabilizing the joints and defining their degrees of freedom and movement. Some of these ligaments are rated as some of the strongest ligaments in the body.
