Description
This is a thick syndesmotic ligament on the posterior aspect of the distal tibiofibular joint that connects the adjacent surfaces of the bones. It has a deep part referred to as the inferior transverse ligament. This is a yellow elastic ligament that contacts the superior surface of the talus.
Function
Stabilize the distal tibiofibular joint.
