Description
This is a flat ligamentous band that arises from the lateral side of the semimembranosus muscle and posterior aspect of the tibial condyle. It ascends obliquely laterally to attach to the medial surface of the lateral femoral condyle. It blends with the posterior surface of the fibrous joint capsule and is the floor of the popliteal fossa.
Function
Stabilizes the posterior aspect of the knee joint and limits lateral rotation of the tibia.
