Description
The inferior fibular, or peroneal, retinaculum helps hold the tendons of the fibular muscles in place as they pass around the lateral malleolus and sends a projection deep to separate the fibularis longus and brevis tendons from one another. It is continuous with the inferior extensor retinaculum anteriorly and passes obliquely down and back to insert into the lateral surface of the anterior part of the calcaneus.
