Articulatio sternoclavicularis,
Articulation sternoclaviculaire
Description
The sternoclavicular joint is formed at the junction of the sternal end of the clavicle with the sternal notch of the manubrium and the costal cartilage of the first rib. It is a saddle joint with fibrocartilage articular surfaces on the larger clavicular surface and the smaller sternal surface. A fibrocartilage articular disc separates the fibrocartilage joint surfaces and completely divides the joint cavity into two separate spaces.
