Loose connective tissue

Other Terms: Textus connectivus collagenosus laxus, Textus connectivus laxus, Tissu conjonctif lâche

Description

Loose connective tissue, also referred to as areolar connective tissue, is a collagenous connective tissue where the matrix consists of a collagen network that forms a relatively thin, loose meshwork. Because of its loose arrangement of collagen fibers, loose collagenous connective tissue can contain numerous blood vessels in its watery extracellular matrix.
