Elastic connective tissue
Other Terms: Textus connectivus elasticus, Elastic connective tissue
Elastic connective tissue, in contrast to the collagenous connective tissues, is laden with elastic fibers. These highly deformable fibers afford this tissue great flexibility and recoil. The elastic fibers are much finer in structure than the collagen fibers and form branched networks throughout the tissue.
