Internal layer of the thoracic ...

Description

The internal layer of the thoracic wall is the most diverse of the three lateral layers. The fibers of this layer have different orientations and structure anteriorly, laterally, and posteriorly and anatomists have given each fiber group a different muscle name. This muscle layer also contributes to the formation of the diaphragm muscle. As in other regions of the body wall, the major body wall vessels and nerves run superficial to this muscle layer, as they are sandwiched between the middle and internal muscle layers.

Muscles Included

Diaphragm, Subcostals, Transversus thoracis, and the Innermost intercostals
