Etymology

In English, this muscle’s name is the pyramid shaped muscle. The word pyramidal comes from the Egyptian pimar designating the shape we know as the “pyramid.”

Anterior surface of the pubic bone and the symphysis pubis

Linea alba

Action

Tenses the linea alba. Probably weakly assists the rectus abdominis with flexion of the lumbar vertebral column.
