Etymology
The English term for this muscle name is the muscle that hangs, or suspends. The structure that it hangs is the testis. Cremaster comes from the Greek kremaster meaning “a suspender or hanger,” which comes from the Greek verb kremao meaning “to hang.” This was a term originally coined by Galen in the 2nd Century.
Origin
Looping fibers from the pubic tubercle and the middle of the inguinal ligament as continuations of the internal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles
Insertion
Looping fibers that attach between the internal and external spermatic fasciae of the spermatic cord and testis
Action
Elevates the testis by drawing it closer to the superficial inguinal ring.

Genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve (L1, 2)
Blood supply
Cremasteric branch of the inferior epigastric artery.
