Subvertebral muscles of the abdominal ...
The subvertebral muscle of the abdomen, the psoas musculature, is the largest of the subvertebral series. This thick rounded muscle, whose sacral portion has migrated onto the lower limb, is not only an important muscle of the lumbar vertebral column, but also a major flexor of the hip joint. All the ventral rami of the lumbar spinal nerves pass through this muscle mass to enter the lateral body wall.
