Dorsal foot muscles
Description
Situated on the dorsal surface of the foot are two short digital extensor muscles. These thin muscle sheets help the long digital extensors of the anterior compartment extend the digits. Like the anterior compartment muscles, they receive innervation from the deep fibular nerve. They sit just deep to the long digital extensors on the dorsum of the tarsus and blend with these muscles to contribute to the extensor expansion on the dorsal surface of the digits.
Muscles Included
Extensor hallucis brevis and Extensor digitorum brevis
