Description
The second layer of plantar foot muscles consists of two muscle names, but five muscles in all – the four lumbrical muscles and the quadratus plantae. All the muscles in this layer attach to the tendons of the flexor digitorum longus as it leaves the posterior crus and crosses the bottom of the foot.
