Description
Seven muscles occupy the fourth layer of plantar foot muscles, however, there are only two names associated with the muscles – the plantar interossei muscles (three muscles) and the dorsal interossei muscles (four muscles). These relatively short muscles are wedged between the metatarsal bones and insert into the dorsal extensor expansion on the digits.
