Middle ear muscles
Other Terms: Ear muscles, Internal ear muscles
There are two muscles in the middle ear, or tympanic cavity, that attach to the middle ear ossicles, the malleus and the stapes. These small muscles play important roles in limiting vibratory movements of the ossicles to help dampen loud sounds that enter the ear.
Tensor tympani muscle and Stapedius muscle
