Meninges
Description
The meninges are the three layers that enclose the brain and spinal cord. From the outside inward, the layers are the dura mater, which is a very thick layer of dense irregular collagenous connective tissue, the arachnoid mater which is much thinner than the dura, and the pia mater, which is a very delicate tissue layer that is plastered right against the tissue of the brain.
