Grey commissure

Other Terms: Grey commissure of spinal cord, Grey commissure

The gray commissure is a band of gray matter that surrounds the central canal in the spinal cord. However gray commissure is a misnomer because the commissure is chiefly composed of decussating and not commissural fibers. The portion of the crescent in front of the commissure is the anterior gray column and behind is the posterior gray column. With the anterior white commissure, it connects the two halves of the spinal cord.
