Hepatic vein

Other Terms: Vena hepatica

Description

The hepatic veins are venous channels within the liver. They do not exist outside of the liver. They empty directly into the inferior vena cava at the point where it is next to the liver. The inferior vena cava is firmly attached to the liver by these hepatic veins and by fibrous tissue.
