The epicranial aponeurosis is the broad tendinous sheet that contributes to the scalp over the top of the cranium. This central tendinous region intervenes between the frontalis muscle belly anteriorly, the occipitalis muscle belly posteriorly, and the temporoparietalis muscle laterally and provides a central point of attachment for these muscles.
