Description
The anterior clinoid processes of thesphenoid bone are the posteromedial projecting bases of the lesser wings that serve as attachment sites for the anterior end of the tentorium cerebelli, the dural roof of the cerebellum.
Etymology
The term clinoid is derived from the Greek kline meaning bed and eidos for form or shape. This is because these processes resemble the posts of a bed.
